Piano Exams
Piano Exams can be fun and are a very important part of a student’s music education. Although exams are not compulsory, we do strongly encourage all our students to sit exams for the following reasons.
Student Results over the past 5 years
Student enjoyment and achievement
Unlike traditional piano exams, the Contemporary Piano Exams offered by the Australian Guild of Music Education provide students with a fun learning experience. As Keyboardkidz students prepare to sit an exam, they are given the choice to learn classical songs OR contemporary songs such as a jazzy swing number, or a favourite Disney classic you can even present your own composition – the choices are virtually endless!
The examiners from the Australian Guild of Music Education main focus is to make sure your child’s exam is a fun and positive experience. We regularly have children as young as 5 years old sitting their first exams. Although they may be a bit nervous at first, they always finish with big smiles on their faces.
Exams give children goals during their learning, and a sense of achievement as they progress through the grades. It is also a good way for parents to follow their child’s progress. With professional feedback on their child’s performance, parents will know how to healthily encourage their children.
Academic Benefits
The QCAA (Queensland Curriculum and Assessment Authority) recognises Contemporary Piano Grade 4 (AGMED) and higher exams. High school students can use these exams to earn credits towards their Senior Certificate and Dual ranking. Many of our students have taken advantage of this great opportunity, and this has helped them get into a Uni course of their preference.
